In a record, 28,000 people learn how to perform CPR at Saveetha University,
Chennai: In a Guinness record breaking event, a total of 28,050 people learnt to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on Friday.The two-day event 'Save-A-Life Movement' was conducted at Saveetha University in association with Times Foundation, a body initiated by the Times Group. Close to 60 educational institutions participated in the event which was conducted to create awareness regarding the use of CPR technique to save lives. Over 2,500 student volunteers, 200 staff and 100 instructors from the college worked round-the-clock to achieve this feat.Swapnil Dangarikar, adjudicator with Guinness World Records and N M Veeraiyan, chancellor of the university, inaugurated the event.

Volunteers had to conduct 60 chest compressions at the rate of 120/minute on a single mannequin, during the session. The team also set an additional world record by doing a relay without going on a break.Participants learnt the procedure on how to start with the heart, lungs and keep the brain of the patient alive. With such training, a regular bystander will be equipped to give preliminary first-aid to save someone's life."Every individual of the university along with partnered universities came together to create a social change," said T Gunasekaran, dean of the university.

Socio-Legal Audio-Visual festival, FRAMES -2016,
Saveetha School of Law organized a two day Socio-Legal Audio-Visual festival, FRAMES
2016, the first of its kind in any law schools in India, on 18th and 19th February, 2016. The
purpose of FRAMES was to encourage the students to have an insight into the emerging socio-legal issues by dispelling misconceptions, myths and prejudices surrounding social issues and

empower them to have broader perspectives through the use of audio-visual medium. It also
provided a platform to showcase the students’ talents in photography, documentary and short-
film making on such issues. Five broad themes were chosen this year for FRAMES 2016 namely Marginalized sections of the society, Inequality, Disability, Human Rights and Day-to-day social FRAMES 2016 included short-film and Documentary Competition, Photography Contest, Drawing, Face Painting and Junk Art Competition and Exhibition for Students.  The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. R. Anita Rao, Director, Saveetha School of Law on 18th February, 2016 and she officially declared open the photography, painting and junk art exhibition at Saveetha School of Law. Eight short films and two documentaries directed by our students on issues like transgender, alcoholism, women empowerment, illiteracy, importance of agriculture, Right to Education to name a few were screened and were reviewed by other students. The students opined that the documentaries and short films have helped them understand better, the day to day issues of the society by enabling them to connect law with grey areas so as to address The valedictory function was held on Friday, 19th February, 2016 in M.M. Convention. Mr. Nanjil Vijayan, Vijay TV actor was the Chief Guest and Mr. Balaji, Cine Actor was the Guest of Honour. The students performed the finale performance of the Best Traditional Folk dance featuring various Tamil folk dances. Awards for the Best Short-Film, Best Documentary, Winner of Photography, Junk Art, Painting competitions were distributed by the Chief Guests. Thus, FRAMES 2016 provided a forum for communication, interaction and discussion between students on various socio-legal issues.

The passing­ out ceremony of the 3rd batch (2010­2016)
of MBBS students of Saveetha Medical College
was held on the Saveetha University's Thandalam
campus on wednesday.(10/02/2016)
The function commenced with the passing-out students marching,
89 students received their degree certificates for the occasion from the hands of
Vice- Chancellor Dr.R. Rajagopal and Medical College Director Dr.Saveetha Rajesh.
The function was titled ‘Passing out Ceremony 2016’of Saveetha Medical college.
University Registrar Dr. Prabhavathy,delivered the
presidential address.
Dr.R Rajagopal Uni.Vice-Chancellor,said,
values that encourage innovation, individuality
and collective effort,and values that strike to promote integrity
and respect  for diversity and human dignity.
Notice the nation beyond yourself and put these values
in to practice by serving the nation,he added.while addressing the
students,Saveetha Medical College Director Dr. Saveetha Rajesh
urged them to stay up to date with the latest
advancements in the field of health care.
Prof. Dr. Chithra in her speach reminded the graduating doctors about
the importance of setting goals in life.
Saveetha Medical College Dean Dr. Guna Sagaran

Jain Uni. won the South Zone 
Inter University Cricket  for Men


Chennai:Finally the South Zone Inter University 
Cricket Men Tournament came to end on 2 Feb 
2016, hosted by SAVEETHA UNIVERSITY. 
Hundred teams were participated from 
various south zone universities in 
the tournament and  four teams were qualified for 
semi-final after preliminary knockout matches. 
SRM University won against Krishna 
University, headed to finals .Mean while 
Jain University won the match against Madras 
University and confirmed final fixture 
against SRM University. 
FINALS MATCH 
SRM University won the toss and elected to bowl, 
Jain scored 226 runs in 42 over’s for the 
loss of 10 wickets and Jain batsman Desmond 
scored 72 runs in 73 balls and Samarth scored 
45 runs in 43 balls In reply SRM University 
scored 86 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 25 
over.Jain won the tournament and captain 
of Jain University Akshay kooth recieved the 
trophy from Dr.Ch Bala Nageswara Rao, 
Director,Saveetha school of Management.
